In the past couple of months there have been a (tiny) handful of requests to use some of my photos for commercial projects, and since I’ve got no illusions about being an artist I was thrilled to have the chance of seeing some of the stuff in print. The first one, which was used in an advertisement for an Italian consulting firm, went to the printer today, and I think it actually looks kind of cool:
And in case anyone is wondering, Google translates the caption as “WE ARE AGAINST THE HUNTING, BUT WE WANT YOUR HEAD!”. It’s not quite “All your base are belong to us”, but it’s still catchy.
awwweesoooome!!!!
“no illusions about being an artist” eh? i think the pieces speak for themselves. in fact, they called me to ask for some back-up on the matter, and were highly insulted by your lack of confidence/enthusiasm in their worth as artistic creations. hence, as their creator/capturor – you must own the title that gives them full credibility as beautious renderings. well done, ARTIST!! 🙂
“they called me to ask for some back-up on the matter, and were highly insulted by your lack of confidence/enthusiasm in their worth as artistic creations.”
apologies if anyone felt insulted – i tend to be a bit self-deprecating. i definitely do manage to take a good photograph now and again (the penguin photos ranked among the top in comments left at photo.net). but that said, as much as i would love to be a professional photographer, i’ve met too many immensely talented people (see here and here for two examples) that i will gladly defer to their artistic abilities and simply enjoy pursuing photography as a hobby. thanks for the compliments though!
ryan – it was meeee – lauren! i don’t know why i published it anonymously. you take purdy pictures.
at first i was like, lauren? then it hit me: SULTRY VIXEN. and for the record, sultry vixens are something the world has far too few of.
RYAN THIS PHOTO IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! I love it! How professional! You should make a online database of your photos for clients to access….let me know if you’re into that idea…
by the way, it’s Lynn
thanks lynn! actually pretty much all of my photos are already online, although they’re relatively low-res versions. i’ll be in los angeles starting august 15, so i may have to pick your brain about how you manage everything (how many photos do you have? must be thousands.) as to “my customers”, thus far it’s just a handful, and i haven’t really made any attempt to commercialize things – i’m cursed with the brain of an engineer, and don’t have your talents with art.
on a side note, i guess i need to modify the message boards to make it easier for “anonymous” users to sign in. between you, aaron, and charlie chi the site is acquiring a bunch of anonymous regulars…
