The waters around Komodo Island are fairly treacherous, but unfortunately this boat was the only budget option for visiting the island. I was lucky to have good weather, and even so we had water crashing over the sides of the boat at several times during the six hour trip. The fact that the guys driving the boat spoke no English, and my Indonesian vocabulary was about ten words, didn't help the situation any.
