This was the first wild elephant I saw in India, and I spotted him from the road while heading to Kabini River Lodge. I asked the cab driver to stop, but as I was stepping out of the cab to try and get a better look he indicated that if the elephant came towards the cab he would be gone and I was on my own. Apparently there are stories of bull elephants flipping cars, but luckily this elephant was content to hide in the trees.
