Huge masses of people were constantly coming into and out of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, but only a short way away we had the Tomb of Ay completely to ourselves. While the tomb wasn't quite as ornate as those of the pharoahs it was nevertheless impressive, and the caretaker of this tomb was unique in that he provided lots of information about the tomb and never demanded baksheesh. Being able to visit this tomb in solitude and without being hassled made it a highlight of the trip.
