The sheep knew that they had nothing to fear from the buses, so often on the high passes there would be anywhere from two to eight ewes and kids resting right next to the road. The buses would pass as close as five feet away, and the sheep seemed to hardly even notice. The Dall sheep rams seemed to prefer more solitude, and I only saw them while hiking on on high slopes.
