Today was fairly typical, and I spent a good chunk of it working on some code to allow message boards on the site again.  That should be ready soon.<\/p>\n<p>I was planning on heading to Monterey today, but the idea of sleeping in the car and doing a lot of driving became less appealing as the day went on.  At some point (and probably soon) I&#8217;m gonna lose it and just take off &#8212; I don&#8217;t have a specific itinerary in mind, but the snow pretty much forces me to go to the southwest, so the following are likely targets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spelunking in Carlsbad Caverns.  The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/cave\/tour-hwg.htm\">Hall of the White Giant<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/cave\/tour-spider.htm\">Spider Cave<\/a> tours are two that I&#8217;d love to try, but both are only done on weekends and need to be booked well in advance.<\/li>\n<li>Hiking in the Grand Canyon.  Nadia recommended the <a href=\"http:\/\/grandcanyonhiker.com\/cgi-bin\/trail\/trails.cgi?trail=nk\">Kaibab Trail<\/a>, so I&#8217;d like to check it out.<\/li>\n<li>Visiting the dunes at White Sands.  Very cool place.<\/li>\n<li>Watching the stars from the <a href=\"\/photos\/american_west\/highlights\/pages\/b19-roll\/12-death-valley-badwater-salt-flats.html#top\">salt flats<\/a> in Death Valley.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/photos\/american_west\/highlights\/pages\/b15-roll\/27-arches-me-and-delicate-arch.html#top\">Arches National Park<\/a> and <a href=\"\/photos\/american_west\/highlights\/pages\/b16-roll\/08-canyonlands-snow.html#top\">Canyonlands National Park<\/a> in Utah.<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;and whatever else is along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If anyone is interested in coming along for part of the trip, let me know.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the lack of updates, there just hasn&#8217;t been much going on.
